Catherine Dehdashti has been an essayist, food writer, and communications professional for nearly 20 years. Roseheart is her debut novel. She was inspired to explore the connections possible between women of different generations who come from countries politically long at odds, and how cooking can play a role in these relationships. This connection, sort of a culinary bridge, was important to Dehdashti because she learned to cook at the side of her Iranian mother-in-law, whom she got to know in the kitchen.
Dehdashti lives in Minneapolis/St. Paul with her husband, a teenage daughter, and soon-to-be teen boy.
